Dr Backus is a Certified Chiropractic Physician licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine to practice Manipulation, Physiotherapy Rehabilitation, and Active Release Technique (ART) in treating painful conditions.
At Balance Sport & Spine, we perform one-on-one Physiotherapy treatment. This is heavily incorporated into treatment plans and essential in retraining painful structures to perform properly as well as relieving stress into effected joints and injured tissues. A detailed, individual approach to rehabilitation is often essential for persons for whom prior Physiotherapy was unsuccessful, who are post-operative and have remaining pain, or who are not yet surgical candidates or who wish to avoid surgery. Receiving treatment one-on-one with a skilled practitioner is essential to grasping and performing correctly Physiotherapy exercises to achieve reduced pain or pain-free movement.
Dr Backus also incorporates, where indicated, Active Release Technique (ART), "the Gold Standard in Soft Tissue Treatment." ART is a medically-patented technique that allows Certified Physicians to treat soft tissue problems with high specificity, typically yielding noted beneficial decreases in pain levels following treatment.
